Pests’ presence can be a frustrating issue, whether it is a common insect, rodents or moths and bees. The proper method to eliminate pests from the home isn’t only removal, but also to have preventive strategies.

A clean home offers comfort and also prevents the infestation of pests. Regular vacuuming and mopping can reduce the chances of pests in your home. Also, decluttering your space is essential because these spots are favorite of pests to hide and divide. In this article, we will discuss the techniques of pest removal.

The following are the types of pest control methods.

1. Physical Pest Control

In physical pest control, the process involves using equipment and strategies. It is mostly done by expert and professional pest controllers. Physical control focuses on prevention, but some processes can also remove the pests. Examples of physical pest control are:

Pest Proofing

In pest proofing, the experts focus on keeping pests out of your space. It is done by creating a barrier at the entry. It also involves removing the nests and the place of their breeding. If their nests are removed, there will be no infestations.

Trap and Bait Stations

It is the most commonly used control method. It involves trapping animals using bait and stopping their breeding. This method is perfect for small animals like rodent control and other insects as well. To ensure the trap is working, you have to check it regularly until the animal is caught.

Temperature Control

For pests that aren’t easy to catch, the temperature control method is effective. Pests are not able to tolerate extreme temperatures, either hot or cold. High temperatures are ideal for killing bedbugs. Some types of insects can be killed by placing them in cold storage, as low temperature slows down their breeding.

2. Chemical Pest Control

Chemical methods are the well-known way of controlling pests. Chemical control is reliable and can tackle a large pest population. Examples of chemical pest control include:

Extermination

It is an effective technique for honey bee removal for big and aggressive hives. It involves using pesticides to eliminate the bees; for this, permethrin-based products are used to kill bees inside a hive. Chemical treatments can leave chemical remains in the honey and wax, so it should be considered before using it.

Poison Baits

Poison baits are used along with some physical methods, such as traps. The poisons usually used as baits are in the form of gel or pellets. These baits are given so that the pest will eat them and they will die.

Insecticides

These are chemicals that only target specific insects and kill them. They are in the form of sprays and are advised to be handled with care. They are also present in granule form, which is used in eliminating garden pests.

3. Biological Method

It is one of the oldest forms of pest management. It involves using other natural organisms as predators to reduce or remove a species of pest.  It is ideal for controlling larger populations of pests. It can be used on plants by introducing microorganisms that protect their host species by killing pests.

It is an environmentally safe method and doesn’t contain any harmful substances. It has long-lasting effects. It is also cost-effective as there is no need for chemicals or traps.
